About the event

Self-transcending meditation (otherwise known as transcendental meditation, Vedic meditation and primordial sound meditation) is a deeply restorative practice that allows the mind to effortlessly settle beyond thoughts into a state of pure awareness. Unlike techniques that require focused attention or observation of thoughts, self-transcending meditation uses a mantra (personalised) to naturally quiet the mind. This effortless approach is rooted in neuroscience, which shows that it activates the brain’s “default mode network,” promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and fostering creativity.
Backed by Science
Research demonstrates that self-transcending meditation reduces cortisol levels, improves heart health, and enhances brain function by increasing coherence and alpha-wave activity, associated with calmness and alertness. These physiological changes support emotional balance, stress resilience, and overall well-being.
How It Differs
Focused Attention Meditations (e.g., mindfulness) require concentrated effort to anchor attention, often on the breath, building focus and resilience over time.
